ACT Test Review Courses Key Points

The ACT test, originally known as the American College Test, is a standardized test for college admissions primarily for high school students. Previously, the ACT exam was the standard college placement test primarily in the Midwest, with the SAT placement being the standard college placements for the Northeast and West Coast of the U.S.  According to ACT test review courses, today both tests are easily accepted and interchanged equally across the U.S. Whereas the SAT tends to test for reasoning, the ACT test focuses more on content and includes science, English and mathematics.  ACT test review courses are quick to point out that on the ACT test, each question answered correctly is worth one point.

The test is broken down into 4 sections, English (45 minute English test) - 75 questions, Math (a 60 minutes math test) with 60 questions covering pre-algebra, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, Reading (35 minute test) with 40 questions  covering reading comprehension, prose and fiction, social science, humanities and natural sciences. According to ACT test review courses, the ACT test also includes an optional essay that is 30 minutes long.

Many Junior Colleges and Community Colleges offer ACT test review courses on site for students to catch up and or hone their skills if they’ve are dropping back into continuing education courses.

Students who have access to the internet can go through the ACT test online preparation program, which costs about US $20.00 for a year.  These ACT test review courses prepare them with real ACT test questions, and they’ll also get to practice writing essays and have access to real scoring methods.  With these online ACT test review courses, students will receive in-depth content review for each of the 4 ACT exam sections, and they’ll receive a personalized study path to follow.

For students who prefer taking ACT test review courses with a text book in hand, the ACT.org site offers a published book “The Real ACT Prep Guide” which runs about US $30.95.  If you want a version that includes the CD, costs run US $34.95.
